Performance Reviews

Body

Overview

Th performance management process in Workday for staff and their supervisors includes a mid-year review and year-end review, and an introductory period review for new hires. There's also an optional but highly recommended check-in feature that can be used anytime.

This structure helps staff and supervisors to have regular and quality discussion and documentation of work performance - including reviewing goals, recognizing achievements, addressing challenges, and exploring professional development opportunities. These conversations are critical to supporting individual and team success.

Year-End Performance Reviews

The year-end performance review process for eligible staff and their supervisors kicked off on April 1 in Workday. The review covers the past 12 months and requires ratings for the position's ten competencies and overall performance.

This is a valuable practice to discuss and document goals, achievements, challenges, and professional development opportunities. It's also a good time to start thinking about goals for the next year in preparation for our new goal-setting period this summer. The goal-setting period will allow you to spend dedicated time focusing on individual and team goals for the upcoming academic year and in alignment with GSE's strategic vision, Together for Good. This will be from June to August and complement the overall performance evaluation process. Stay tuned for more information about this!

Below is a a general outline of the review's three main phases and GSE's deadlines.

We know this can be a busy time, so please plan ahead to ensure that the reviews are completed in Workday by the June deadline, especially for supervisors with multiple direct reports. Scheduling review meetings in advance can help avoid last-minute delays.

Please note that if you recently joined GSE and are still in your introductory review period (or have completed it this past month), you are exempt from this.
